Student Mentor
Location: Wood County (Parkersburg South High School) and Putnam County (Hurricane High School) counties
Overall Duties:
Mission West Virginia’s Bridge program uses Check and Connect, a comprehensive intervention designed to enhance student engagement at school, improve attendance and foster school completion. The mentor directly works with students and their families, school staff, and community members to implement strategies that address school success for students in foster or kinship care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Obtain referrals from school personnel and identify students who qualify for the program.
Maintain a full-time caseload of students, approximately 33 students.
Provide weekly mentoring services to assigned students and families and collaborate with identified teachers of assigned students as needed.
Provide personalized interventions.
Promote participation and affiliation with the school.
Connect, partner, and engage with parents/families and other adults in the student’s life, which may include home or community setting visits, if approved.
Collect and report data in an online tracking tool.
Assist families with access to resources to support successful student engagement.
Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
Maintain knowledge of community resources.
Communicate with school personnel related to student success or challenges.
Attend identified meetings and serve on special committees as directed by immediate
Minimum Requirement:
High school diploma or GED. Experience working with at-risk youth. Possess excellent interpersonal skills. Available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and/or weekends. Requires confidentiality, a strong work ethic, and proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate online data management systems with appropriate training. Reliable, on-time, and regular attendance required. Excellence in resourcefulness and knowledge of the specific community served. Persistence: A belief that all youth have the ability and right to learn.
Status: Hourly. Non-Exempt. Anticipated 40 hours/week during the school year. 4-8 weeks off in summer.

Foster Care Outreach Coordinator
Location: Hurricane Office
Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree in human services field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to the public.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, problem-solve, and remove barriers in the foster care/adoption process.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft.
Overall Duties: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Foster Care Outreach Coordinator to be the first point of contact for individuals interested in fostering or adopting children. This position plays a critical role in guiding and supporting families through the foster care and adoption process, ensuring it is efficient, timely, and of high quality. The Coordinator will also be responsible for fostering community relations to increase awareness of the state's foster care system.
Starting Salary Range: $40,000

Youth Support Advocate
Mission West Virginia’s THINK Program is excited to announce an opening for a full-time THINK Youth Support Advocate dedicated to serving Clay County. Our THINK Program is at the forefront of teen pregnancy prevention, healthy relationship education, and positive youth development across West Virginia. We are seeking a compassionate, driven individual to provide crucial support services, resources, and guidance to youth facing a range of challenges including trauma and emotional or psychological difficulties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health field. Master’s degree preferred.
1 to 3 years of direct service experience in mental health with professional licensure (e.g., LSW, LPC).
Familiarity with community resources for adolescents and mental health issues.
Based in the MWV main office or a home office, with required travel across THINK service areas and occasional national travel.
Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Adolescent Health Educator
