This contest is our way to join the National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Awareness Campaign that takes place every year in May. Students will be able to enter the contest with first, second and third place winners for both middle and high school students.
The theme 2022 is My Future, My Plan, My Life. The design element will be a hoodie. We are asking the students to consider how reproductive life planning helps them be in control of their future. If you wanted to reduce teen pregnancy, promote personal responsibility, and have a successful future, how would you do it? What is the plan? Go to https://bit.ly/34T7nop for research and ideas. And design your hoodie to share the plan and spread your message.
The hoodie design contest will start March 7, 2022, and end April 11, 2022. All entries must be turned in to Mission West Virginia, Inc. no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 11, 2022.
Entries can be submitted via email to nationalday@missionwv.org. The judging will be based on research and knowledge of teen pregnancy prevention, creativity, and individuality. The first, second and third place winners for middle school and high school will be based on the number of votes on the polling site and the judges scores. Judging will begin on April 12, 2022, and end on April 29, 2022. Any middle school or high school student can enter and must fill out an entry/release form to qualify for prizes.
The prizes include First Place: An Amazon gift card ($100) and 200 hoodies in their design for their school to distribute, Second Place: An Amazon gift card ($75), and Third Place: An Amazon gift card ($50). The winners will be announced at a school assembly (pending school approval) in May 2022 with prizes and/or awards being given to winners on that day. In addition, the winning hoodie design will be shown at events and published on the LPTP Facebook page.
Why get involved? The Leadership to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Taskforce (LPTP) is dedicated to preventing teen pregnancy. This statewide initiative is made up of committed individuals and organizations that focus on encouraging medically accurate, age appropriate, sexuality education and promoting healthy informed reproductive life planning for teens. The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (APPI) sponsors LPTP. THINK (an initiative of Mission WV, Inc.) partners with APPI to sponsor this contest. We are all deeply committed to engaging youth in new and innovative ways. We hope this project will empower students to reach out to their peers and emphasize the importance of being proactive about prevention.
We look forward to your participation in this exciting annual event! If you have any questions, please contact nationalday@missionwv.org or carrie.e.linn@wv.gov.
